At the WA Cricket Foundation, inclusion drives everything we do, from how we create and deliver programs to how we lead. It is one of our values.
The Foundation, an independent arm of WA Cricket, uses cricket as the vehicle to grow opportunity and create a sense of belonging for people of all abilities and backgrounds.
It is through sport that we promote wellbeing, resilience, and connection.
Each member of our Team, alongside our Board, brings a unique perspective to the organisation’s strategy as we transform lives and connect communities.
We want to introduce you to the incredible people leading the Foundation.
Tim Ungar has been appointed as Chair, effective 1 June. Mr Ungar brings extensive leadership experience and a strong passion for using cricket as a vehicle for connection, inclusion and opportunities.
“I am honoured to step into the role of Chair of the WA Cricket Foundation and build upon the strong legacy already in place,” he said.
“Cricket has a unique ability to bring people together, and I am passionate about expanding opportunities for communities across Western Australia to connect, participate and thrive through our programs and initiatives moving forward.”
Mr Ungar’s appointment follows the outstanding tenure of outgoing Chair, John Gardner, who has played a pivotal role in strengthening the Foundation’s reach and purpose, as well as the recent move into the newly redeveloped WACA Ground.
Kari Musick CFRE was appointed as the inaugural Foundation Manager, stepping into the role on 23 February 2026. Ms Musick brings vast fundraising experience and truly believes in the power of mattering.
What she’ll tell you is that this isn’t an idea – it is real impact. This is what happens when philanthropy meets cricket.
“The Foundation’s competitive advantage is not cricket itself. It is our ability to create belonging, confidence, and opportunity in places where they are otherwise limited,” Ms Musick said.
“Cricket is the vehicle – not the barrier – through which this impact is delivered.”
Alice Wigley joined the Foundation in August 2025 bringing years of experience in relationship management and a love of cricket.
“Cricket has always been a game that brings people together, and that’s exactly what draws me to this work. Every relationship we build – with donors, partners, and communities – is another step toward making sure more people feel that sense of belonging,” Ms Wigley said.
“I love that no two days look the same. Whether we’re out in schools, connecting with supporters, or working alongside our community partners, there’s always something meaningful happening, and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of it.”
Each of them brings something truly special to how we deliver on our vision of a Western Australia where every individual, regardless of background or ability, has access to the game and the opportunities it creates. These are the people who are leading with purpose, delivering:
- Community and school-based programs
- Inclusive programs for people with disability
- Programs supporting Aboriginal communities
- Leadership and development pathways for young people
These aren’t just leadership roles; they’re stories of transformation in motion as the Foundation remains dedicated to enriching lives through cricket, ensuring the sport continues to unite and inspire communities throughout the state.
The Foundation’s programs use cricket as an accessible, trusted platform to deliver outcomes that matter to the wider community. Supporters invest in people and possibility, expressed through these pillars:
- Aboriginal Communities → leadership, pride, wellbeing
- Disability & Inclusion → safety, belonging, confidence
- Young Women & Girls → resilience, agency, opportunity
