The WA Cricket Foundation has launched its Pledge a Picket campaign, giving cricket lovers the chance to have their name on the picket fence that surrounds the iconic WACA Ground.
As part of the WACA Ground Improvement Project, engraved plaques will be installed with the name and playing details of every player that has represented WA and fans can choose to put their names next to a player’s.
Options include putting a single name, family name, community club or business name on the picket fence alongside a WA state representative, West Australian who has played for Australia or WA Cricket Legend.
Available pickets include legends Brad Hogg, Geoff Marsh, Karen Read and John Inverarity.
WA Cricket CEO, Christina Matthews said;
“This Ground has an incredibly rich history and is well known across the country around the world with some of the greatest cricketing moments happening on this Ground, so it’s a really special opportunity for our Members, fans and the cricket community from here and afar to be part of that now,” she said.
“This is a chance to honour a champion of your Club, your hometown hero or favourite player, linking your name with theirs at WA’s home of cricket.
“Donations will assist in funding initiatives that transform the WACA Ground into a community and sporting hub with cricket at its heart.
“Part of the Foundation’s focus is ensuring the Ground is a true community hub that is inclusive of all Western Australians and those who choose to visit,” Ms Matthews said.
Names will remain on the fence for a term of ten years.
