New Look Foundation Board

WA Cricket is pleased to announce several changes to the WA Cricket Foundation Board as the association heads into a new and exciting future.

The appointment of John Gardner as the new Chair, succeeding Dr Bob Every AO was recently endorsed by the WACA Board, with Mr Gardner bringing a wealth of experience to the role, having served as a Foundation Board member for the last six years.

Mr Gardner has been involved in the expansion of the programs and pathways for people of all abilities, and the addition of Haywood Aboriginal Scholarship.

He becomes the second Chair of the WACF after Dr Every who has occupied the post since the Foundation was established seven years ago.

Dr Every played a central role in guiding the Foundation from its infancy to what it is today; a philanthropic entity driven to foster a community which accepts and embraces people of all abilities, through cricket.

Overseeing the fundraising efforts for the WACA Ground Improvement Project – which will become the new home of the WACF when it opens later this year – Dr Every has ensured the continued growth of the Foundation’s mission to be a place for everyone to enjoy sport and community.

Additionally, the WACF is excited to welcome Michelle Shepherd to its board. The Foundation wishes to thank outgoing board member Brad Hogg who made many valuable contributions during his tenure.

Mr Gardner said it was a privilege to be part of the WA Cricket Foundation Board.

“Being involved with the WA Cricket Foundation is truly a privilege and I am very grateful for the confidence the WACA Board has shown in me through my appointment as Chair,” he said.

“Cricket has shaped a lot of my life, and I’m honoured to take on this role to help grow the game and its positive influence across people of all abilities.

“There are some big shoes to fill, following Bob Every AO seven years as Chair of the WA Cricket Foundation.

“I was very fortunate to observe Bob’s leadership over the past six years as a Director and I look forward to continuing where he left off.

“The next few months will be particularly exciting for the Foundation, as we edge closer to completion of the WACA Ground Improvement Project and build up to the Ashes series next summer.”

The WA Cricket Foundation champions diversity, inclusion, and belonging across four key areas of impact.
