Today marks the beginning of NAIDOC Week which runs from July 2 – July 9, and the theme of this years’ celebration is For our Elders.
Across every generation, our Elders have played, and continue to play, an important role and hold a prominent place in our communities and families.
They are cultural knowledge holders, trailblazers, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers and our loved ones.
We pay our respects to the Elders we’ve lost and to those who continue fighting for us across all our Nations and we pay homage to them.
As part of WA Cricket’s NAIDOC Week celebrations, we are putting a spotlight on community programs in Port Hedland.
Our Leadership Program is run at Hedland Senior High School and encompasses cricket, football, and basketball, while teaching the youth the importance of being role models in their community.
