Dr Bob Every AO goes in to bat for WA Cricket Foundation

Like many in our cricket community, Dr Bob Every AO’s love for the game began many years ago as a player rising through the community cricket ranks and onto his local premier cricket competition.

Dr Every has been an avid fan of cricket for years, having served our cricketing community not only as a self-confessed “very ordinary all-rounder”, but also as a former Cricket Australia Board Member and, for the past six years, as Chair of the WA Cricket Foundation.

Under Dr Every’s ’s leadership and with the support of our generous community, the WA Cricket Foundation has raised over $3 million to grow our game into one that is inclusive of all, regardless of background or ability.

“It is my firm conviction that we can use the game of cricket, where we learn life skills such as resilience, collaboration and communication, to deliver real social outcomes in our community, and that is why I put my support behind the Foundation,” Dr Every reflects.

As a former Chairman of Wesfarmers, Dr Every recognises the necessity of any organisation being part of the community embracing inclusion and diversity.

On reasons for making a leadership gift to the WACA Ground Improvement Project he says, “I have so many wonderful memories of watching cricket here at the WACA Ground.”

“To support the creation of a community and sporting hub that serves our elite athletes whilst making it an inclusive and welcoming space for people of all abilities, that just ticks all the boxes for what is important to me.”
