Western Australian icons Justin Langer, Adam Gilchrist and Mike Hussey have used their star power to help Euroz Hartleys raise a massive $150 thousand for the WA Cricket Foundation, through their annual Commission for a Cause day.
Teaming up with current players Ashton Turner, Nicole Bolton, Joel Paris, Chloe Piparo, Matt Kelly and Sam Whiteman the cricketers spoke to brokerage clients throughout the day to help convince a number of organisations to pay extra commission on their trades.
Foundation Chair Dr Bob Every spoke at a Boardroom lunch highlighting the impact the money raised will have on driving diversity and inclusion in cricket.
“It’s been so great to see the enthusiasm around Euroz Hartleys today, Commission for a Cause is a great initiative and we are truly thankful to be a recipient of their hard work,” said Dr Every.
“This money will help secure the future of cricket in WA, particularly for communities that might not normally have access to the game we all love.
“Cricket has the ability to enrich, support and inspire people, we’re hoping all West Australians can reap these benefits by making it a sport for all.”
The funds raised will go directly towards growing opportunities for Aboriginal communities, people with a disability, and women and girls through cricket.
Commission for a Cause raised a total of $450 thousand, double the amount from last year, that was divided between WA Cricket Foundation, Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation and Women and Infants Research Foundation.
