WA Cricket Foundation Welcomes New Chair

WA Cricket is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Ungar as Chair of the WA Cricket Foundation effective 1 June.

The appointment marks an exciting chapter in the Foundation’s continued commitment to community impact across Western Australia.

Mr Ungar brings extensive leadership experience and a strong passion for using cricket as a vehicle for connection, inclusion, and opportunities.

He is currently the Chairman of TSA Group, a national sales, marketing, and operations company based in Western Australia.

He has been a longstanding supporter of the WA Cricket Foundation as Director of the Ungar Family Foundation and as a donor to the Foundation.

His appointment follows the outstanding tenure of outgoing Chair, John Gardner, who has played a pivotal role in strengthening the Foundation’s reach and purpose, as well as the recent move into the newly redeveloped WACA Ground.

Under Mr Gardner’s leadership, the Foundation has expanded its programs and deepened its engagement with communities, supporting Aboriginal, People with a Disability and Women and Girls initiatives making cricket more accessible and meaningful for people of all backgrounds.

WA Cricket CEO John Stephenson has welcomed the appointment, acknowledging both leaders’ contributions to the Foundation’s success and future direction.

“I would like to sincerely thank John for his outstanding leadership and contributions to the WA Cricket Foundation over the last seven years as a board member and more recently as Chair of the Foundation,” he said.

“The Foundation is delighted to welcome Tim into the role as Chair and I look forward to working together to continue creating meaningful opportunities and positive outcomes for people across Western Australia through the power of cricket.”

Mr Ungar said he is looking forward to building upon the strong momentum the Foundation has already established.

“I am honoured to step into the role of Chair of the WA Cricket Foundation and build upon the strong legacy already in place,” he said.

“Cricket has a unique ability to bring people together, and I am passionate about expanding opportunities for communities across Western Australia to connect, participate and thrive through our programs and initiatives moving forward.”

Outgoing Chair, Mr Gardner said holding the position of Chair of the WA Cricket Foundation has been an honour.

“It has been a privilege to serve as Chair of the WA Cricket Foundation and witness the genuine impact our programs have across the community,” he said.

“I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved over my seven-year tenure on the Board and am very confident the Foundation will continue to grow, inspire and make an impactful difference well into the future.”

The WA Cricket Foundation remains dedicated to enriching lives through cricket, ensuring the sport continues to unite and inspire communities throughout the state.
