Ashton Turner and Chris Webster join WA Cricket Foundation Board

The WA Cricket Foundation is delighted to welcome Ashton Turner and Chris Webster to its Board.

Both bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to using cricket as a force for positive social impact across Western Australia.

A respected leader on and off the field, Ashton Turner currently captains the Perth Scorchers’ KFC BBL and WA One-Day Cup teams, having previously led the state in the Sheffield Shield.

A dual Simon Katich Medallist, Turner has represented Australia in both One Day Internationals and T20 Internationals and is recognised for his professionalism, empathy, and dedication to team culture.

Off the field, Turner is actively involved in the cricket community. He serves on the Australian Cricketers’ Association Cricket Committee representing WA men’s players at a national level, and sits on the Advisory Board for Clear Air Sports, a wellbeing education organisation.

Turner has also supported community causes, including roles such as a Sock it to Sarcoma ambassador and as a WA Cricket Foundation Player Ambassador, promoting inclusion and participation through cricket.

“I’ve been fortunate to have had opportunities in cricket that have shaped me both on and off the field,” Turner said.

“Joining the WA Cricket Foundation Board gives me the chance to help create similar pathways for others across Western Australia.

“Cricket is more than just a game – it’s a way to bring communities together, teach life skills, and provide opportunities for young people to thrive,” he added.

The addition of Turner coincides with the conclusion of Mike Hussey’s term on the Board.

The Foundation thanks Mike for his dedication, expertise and profile he has contributed over the past six years. He will continue to support the Foundation in his ongoing role as Ambassador.

Chris Webster is the National Head of Advisers – Wealth Management at Canaccord Genuity Australia, with more than two decades of experience in financial services, leadership, and corporate governance.

A long-time WACA Member, Webster has combined his professional expertise with community service throughout his career. He recently concluded a successful tenure as President of the University of Western Australia Hockey Club, where he championed inclusion and sustainable growth.

Webster has been involved with the WA Cricket Foundation for several years, attending events and supporting the Foundation’s programs, and is excited to contribute further to its work.

“I believe cricket has a wonderful opportunity as a vehicle for social good,” Webster said.

“The Foundation has made great progress in recent years, and I’m looking forward to helping it grow and inspire even more Western Australians.”

WA Cricket Foundation Chair John Gardner welcomed the new appointments, highlighting the value each will bring to the Board.

“Ashton and Chris bring a terrific blend of experience, insight, and passion for cricket’s role in building a better community,” Gardner said.

“Their perspectives – one from the elite level of the game and the other from corporate and philanthropic circles – will be invaluable as the Foundation continues to expand its reach and impact.”

Through its generous donors, the WA Cricket Foundation continues to support initiatives that ensure everyone in Western Australia can connect with cricket.

Turner and Webster’s appointments are for an initial three-year term, with the option of a further three years. In addition, Suzanne Ardagh’s tenure on the Board has been extended for a further three years.
