Star Blast Celebration caps off Spectacular Season

More than 100 keen youngsters were keen to show off their skills for the cameras to celebrate another awesome season at Wembley Districts Junior Cricket Club, including the club’s third Star Blast season.

The family-friendly session and sausage sizzle even included a live broadcast on 10 News First Perth sports segment where reporter Ashleigh Nelson chatted with WA Cricket CEO Christina Matthews and WA player Corey Rocchiccioli.

The players didn’t miss a chance to show off their skills, with one young gun smashing the WA offspinner for six!

The Star Blast program provides kids with a disability an inclusive adapted version of the Woolworths Cricket Blast Program that is available through mainstream cricket clubs.

With the support of our generous donors, this ensures that families who have children with disabilities can be a part of their local club, with the program adapted to suit the capabilities of the children involved.

The live broadcast was deserving recognition for Wembley Districts Junior Cricket Club, which is committed to providing individual support for players with an intellectual and physical disability and those on the autism spectrum.
